The utmost care has been taken in the decoration, supervised by a French architect-decorator : the large room is in wood and stone from Thanh Hoa, used since centuries, in particular for the building of the Imperial Mausoleums of Hue, the floor in Colonial Style tiles, and the bedroom/bathroom floor is in beautiful blond wood; antique furniture and antiquities complete the décor, including a magnificent bronze Buddha.

The equipment is au par with the design and decoration : combined air-condition/heat system in each room, a beautiful Chinese wood stove in the living room, and an elegant glass shower.

Oriental Bridge offers to his guests all the services expected from such a villa :

Maison Kieu, our homestay house
in Tam Coc (Ninh Binh / Halong-Bay-on-Land)

A truly exceptional guest house for two reasons: it is situated in a quiet maze of narrow streets in the middle of the old village of Van Lam, commonly known as Tam Coc, and the fact that one of the two structures is a very old house similar to those of the famous ancient village of Duong Lam (Mong Phu). Tam Coc is famous as the "capital" of the Halong Bay with its limestone peaks rising from the rice fields, for the wide variety of sites to visit (boat trips on rivers, temples and pagodas, Hang Mua peak, ancient capital from Hoa Lu, Phat Diem cathedral, etc.), and for the activities of the locals, rice growing and especially embroidery whose village is a big center in Vietnam.

The village is located at the edge of the Red River Delta and the mountains of North-West Vietnam, 8 km from the city of Ninh Binh south of Hanoi (3 hours by train, two and a half hours by the new highway)

The house consists of two buildings overlooking a large courtyard filled with bonsai. On the left, a very old structure unique to Tam Coc, with old doors, beams and wooden pillars, all similar to the old pagodas of the region; it is the living room, with fireplace and a small adjoining room.

The house has 2 bedrooms: a large one located in a small building separate from the old house, and a small one in the old house, each with an outdoor bathroom. The meals, prepared in a traditional way by the lady of the house, Mrs. Khuyen, are served in the old house or under the pergola of the garden.

Price per person in dollars : $ 15 breakfast included. Dinner $ 10.
