The Hotel Maison d'Orient opened end of March 2013, is a true « 2-star Boutique ». Without the luxury of a traditional boutique-hotel, it has all its other characteristics such as its exceptional location, the elegance of its decoration, its equipment, and the personalization of the services.
Maison d'Orient is the latest of Hanoi « Hotels of Charm and Character ». Opened in March 2013, it benefits from an exceptional location in the heart of Old Hanoi, 5-mn walking distance from St Joseph Cathedral and 10 mn from Hoan Kiem Lake. Even better, it is not located on a busy noisy street, but at the end of a small dead-end lane paved with large red tiles, which ensures to its clients total quietness day and night. Around the hotel are numerous restaurants, including the famous Vietnamese establishment Madame Hien, the French Petit Bruxelles, the Italian Mediterraneo, and the French-Spanish Salsa.

The small street where the hotel is located, Ngo Huyen, has an interesting history : it was part of the hamlet of Tien Hi and led to the Communal House (The name Ngo Uyen means « Street of the Commune »). In the 19th century, a temple was built to honor a Vietnamese fighter against the French, but it has been destroyed
Maison d'Orient has been designed and decorated by a young Vietnamese architect who was awarded two international prizes: 3rd Grand Prize Japan Architecture (2003) and the Green Dwelling American prize (2012).
Maison d'Orient counts 12 bedrooms (average 20-30 m²) including 1 Standard, 5 Superior rooms, 3 Superior rooms with balcony, 2 Superior rooms with balcony and kitchenette one Family Junior Suite of 37 sqm. Each room, elegantly furnished and decorated in Hanoian style, has its own bathroom and all the equipment of a true boutique-hotel : very comfortable single or queen-size beds, salon table with tea and coffee set, closet, minibar, WiFi, cable LED television with international channels (CNN, etc.), bathroom with shower (some with bathtub) and other touches of a high-quality establishment.

Small unique detail: each bedroom bears the name of a local spice: star anise, cinnamon, lemongrass, ginger, etc. and its air perfumed with an extract of its spice.
The hotel counts also a pleasant breakfast room on a mezzanine with large window on the lane. Other meals are served also in that room or in the bedrooms. |
